Car loan for an unemployed college student?

I am currently a full-time student at a university and I live in a very rough area and I take the bus to get to school and it takes approximately 2 hours to get to school and 2-3 hours to get back home depending at what time i get out. Yesterday 6 people were shot on my street...the obvious option is to move, but i would still have to take the bus and well it is generally bad everywhere ( i carry pepperspray but i dont think thats enough). But wherever I go im still going to have my transportation problem, and I cant get a job because there still remains the same issue. So if I get a car, i can get to the university a lot safer and it will allow me to get a job on weekends. The problem is getting approved for a loan, I have a co-signer but all the places i have tried so far (online) have rejected the request because i am unemployed and have no credit history (turned 18 in august)....so i dont know what to do...please help. Should i just go to a dealer and see if i can get financed?

I normally would never suggest this to anybody, but since you%26#039;re in a particularly dangerous situation I will forget my ethics, morals, and common sense.

If you do have a creditworthy co-signer, one option is a student loan for around $3000.

I know, I know, that%26#039;s not what they%26#039;re for, but in this case I think you%26#039;ll be forgivable.

Go to Chase%26#039;s EducationOne loan website when you have your co-signer with you and you can easily get a loan there.

BUT DON%26#039;T GO OVERBOARD! You don%26#039;t need a Benz. Just get a solid, safe, reliable USED car. Honda, Toyota, even old Volvos (what I drive).

But remember that you will have to pay insurance on it.

Hope this helps!

you have NO job and no credit history, no one is going to give you a loan without these. Save your money and pay cash for a used car for now.

You can change the %26quot;unemployed%26quot; part pretty easily. I have yet to meet a college student who can%26#039;t get at least a part-time job if they WANT TO.

everybody worries about getting a loan -- no body worries about how to pay it back == get a part time job and they worry about getting a loan!!!
